Baan Advocate offers focused legal counsel in contested divorce, marital agreements, and the recognition of foreign marriages and divorces in Thailand.

How We Approach Each Matter
Every case at Baan Advocate begins with a thorough listening session. We do not apply a standard template to family matters, because no two family situations are the same in any meaningful sense. The facts of your case shape the approach — not a predetermined workflow.
Wherever there is room to keep proceedings measured and constructive, we take it. Where firm advocacy is required, we provide it. In both cases, the client remains informed and in control of the major decisions throughout.
For contested divorce matters, this often means drafting correspondence that addresses the substantive issues without inflammatory language — reducing the risk that the other party's position hardens unnecessarily. For agreements, it means taking time with the disclosure conversation before any drafting begins.
Initial Consultation
A substantive conversation — not a sales meeting — in which we listen to your situation, ask clarifying questions, and give you a clear picture of what the process ahead looks like.
Written Engagement
A written engagement letter confirming the scope of work, the agreed fee, and the expected process. Work begins only once this is agreed.
Active Case Management
Correspondence, document preparation, court or office attendance, and liaison with other parties — all handled by the same advocate throughout.
Resolution and Documentation
Proper closure — whether through court order, registered agreement, or official recognition. Final documents verified and explained before the file is closed.
Service 01
Contested Divorce Proceedings
Representation for spouses navigating divorce where significant matters remain unresolved — property distribution, business interests, allegations of misconduct, or disagreements about the children. Work is conducted with discretion and a steady hand; correspondence is drafted to keep matters from escalating where possible.
We attend hearings on behalf of the client where preferred, or accompany them when their presence is helpful. Throughout the process, the client is informed of every meaningful step before it is taken.
Key Benefits
- Full property and asset distribution support
- Handling of business interest and income allocation
- Children's arrangements and custody guidance
- Correspondence management to minimise escalation
- Hearing attendance, on behalf or alongside

Service 02
Prenuptial & Postnuptial Agreements
Drafting and reviewing agreements that set out how a couple intends to organise property and financial matters before or during marriage. Counsel covers the disclosure conversation, the negotiation between the parties' respective advisers where each side has its own counsel, and the drafting of an agreement that reflects the parties' settled wishes.
Approached without pressure on either side; meant to support the marriage, not to anticipate its end. A properly prepared agreement gives both parties clarity from the outset — which can itself be a source of confidence.
Key Benefits
- Full disclosure and negotiation guidance
- Drafting that meets Thai validity requirements
- Review of agreements prepared by other parties
- Coverage of both pre- and postnuptial matters
Service Fee
฿13,500
Service 03
Recognition of Foreign Marriage & Divorce
A service for clients whose marriage was registered abroad and who wish to have it recognised in Thailand, or whose divorce was obtained abroad and now requires Thai recognition for further proceedings. Work covers translation and authentication of documents, the application before the relevant Thai office, and the resolution of questions that the Thai system asks about the foreign decree.
Particularly useful for cross-cultural couples and Thai nationals returning home after years abroad. The procedural requirements can be more involved than expected, and having an advocate who knows the process reduces the likelihood of delays caused by documentation errors.
Key Benefits
- Document translation and certified authentication
- Application to the relevant Thai district office
- Handling of questions about the foreign decree
- Support for cross-cultural and returning Thai clients
Service Fee
฿5,800
Process Steps
Document collection — foreign certificate or decree, supporting identity documents
Certified translation into Thai by accredited translator
Apostille or consular authentication where required
Application at the district office and response to any enquiries
Confirmation of Thai recognition and updated status documentation
